After a moment of silence, John looks at Sarah and smiles.
“So… what did you do this morning?” he asks.
Sarah thinks for a second, then answers casually.
“This morning, I woke up early and went to work,” she says.
“It was a busy morning, but everything went well.”
John nods, paying attention.
“I had a busy morning too,” he says.
“I answered some emails and talked to my manager.”
Sarah looks at him, interested.
“Did you finish everything?” she asks.
John lets out a small breath and smiles.
“Yes, I did. I finished my work before lunch.”
They slow down as they pass a small café.
Sarah glances at it and then back at John.
“I didn’t have time for breakfast today,” she says.
“I just had coffee.”
John raises his eyebrows slightly.
“Really? I had breakfast at home,” he says.
“I made some eggs and toast.”
Sarah smiles.
“That sounds good,” she says.
They stop for a moment at the corner, waiting for the light.
John looks ahead.
“Did you come here by bus?” he asks.
Sarah nods.
“Yes, I did. I took the bus like always.”
The light turns green, and they start walking again.
They continue talking, now more comfortable switching between ideas and moments from their day.
