“Are you new here?” the man asks.
John nods. “Yes, I am.”
“Where are you from?” he asks.
“I’m from Brazil,” John answers.
“That’s nice,” the man says. “My name is David.”
“I’m John,” he says.
They shake hands and continue talking.
David speaks slowly, and John understands most of the conversation.
They talk about simple things, like the city and the weather.
John feels more confident now. He is not afraid to speak anymore.
