Sarah ri ao ver o mapa no celular.
“Parece que hoje você vai pedir direções de novo.”

The morning is bright and cool.
John and Sarah leave the hotel early.
Daniel sent the address of a small café downtown.
John looks at his phone.
“I don’t know this area.”
Sarah smiles.
“That means practice time.”
They walk for a few minutes and stop near a bakery.
An older man is sitting outside with a newspaper.
John steps forward politely.
“Excuse me, can you help me?”
The man lowers his glasses.
“Of course.”
“Where is River Street?”
The man points ahead.
“Go straight for two blocks.”
“Then turn left at the traffic light.”
“There is a bookstore on the corner.”
“After that, walk one more block.”
“The café is next to a flower shop.”
John repeats softly.
“Two blocks… left… bookstore… flower shop.”
The man smiles.
“You’ll find it.”
Sarah laughs.
“You look like a detective.”
They thank the man and continue walking.
A few minutes later, John stops in front of a small café.
A sign hangs above the door.
River Corner Café.
Daniel is inside, holding John’s wallet in the air.
“You made it,” he says.
John smiles proudly.
“And I only got lost once.”
Sometimes progress sounds like a joke first.
